We, the students of Harvard with a love of Celtic culture-its history, its societies, its arts, its music, and its peoples- do hereby constitute The Harvard Celtic Society. Article I. 1. The Society shall serve its membership and the community at large by helping individuals explore the heritage of the world's several Celtic cultures. 2. The official languages of the Society shall be Breton, Cornish, Irish, Manx, Scottish, Welsh, and English. Article II. 1. Membership in the Society shall be open to anyone interested in Celtic culture and shall be retained until such time as a Member shall express his wish to leave the Society. 2. The Society shall have a President, who shall have general supervision and control of its meetings and activities. 3. The Society shall have a Vice-President, who shall assist the President and assume his duties if the President be unable to serve. 4. The Society shall have a Treasurer, who shall have general charge of its financial activities, and who shall keep accurate records thereof. 5. The Society shall have a Secretary, who shall keep a record of all its meetings and activities, and who shall have general charge of the Society's correspondence with other organizations. 6. The President shall be competent to appoint any Member of the Society to the position of Director of some facet of the Society's activities. This Member shall then serve as Director, with duties and powers to be clearly specified by the President, until the Society's next regular election or until removed by the President. 7. The President shall be competent to establish an Association within the Society to coordinate activities concerning a particular Celtic culture. This Association shall then exist, with a purpose to be clearly specified by the President, until the Society's next regular election or until terminated by the President. The president shall appoint a Member of the Society to the position of Director of the Association, as described above. 8. All officers of the Society shall be registered undergraduates in Harvard College. Article III. 1. The officers of the Society shall be elected at the end of the fall semester of each academic year to a term which shall begin on the first day of the spring semester and end on the last day of the following fall semester; notwithstanding, elections shall also be held upon the ratification of this constitution to a term which shall begin immediately and end on the last day of the following fall semester. 2. All elections shall be held among all members of the Society and shall be determined by a majority of the vote. Article IV. 1. A vote of two thirds of the assembly at the first meeting of the Society shall suffice to establish this constitution. 2. This constitution may be amended by a vote of three fourths of the membership of the Society.
