For those of you who are not familiar with the Chado Society, we are an organization that practices the Japanese art form of making green tea. Chado is a combination of tea making, flower arrangement, incense, calligraphy, and the zen philosophy.
The Society meets once a week during the weekend under the instruction of Aiko Somi Rodgers, who also teaches at the Boston Children's Museum. She studied at the Urasenke School of Tea in Kyoto, Japan and is currently a representative in the local chapter of the Urasenke school in Boston.
In addition to our weekly practices, H-R Chado Society also performs chado demonstrations for the local community. Demonstrations in the past have been held for the Harvard community and Wellesley College. If you are interested in a demonstration, please contact one of our officers or send an e-mail to chado (at) hcs.harvard.edu.
The Harvard-Radcliffe Chado Society is a student-run organization at Harvard College. The Harvard name and/or VERITAS shield are trademarks of the President and Fellows of Harvard College and are used by permission of Harvard University.
