Commencement Week Ticket Information


HOW/WHERE DO YOU GET TICKETS FOR COMMENCEMENT WEEK?
SENIOR DESK: ONCE approved by the Registrar as a Walker AND the Senior Survey (distributed by the Registrar) has been filled out: Beginning Tuesday, May 4th between the hours of 11:00AM and 3:00PM, Monday through Friday, seniors are invited to come to the “Senior Desk” located at the Harvard Alumni Association Office on the 6th floor of 124 Mount Auburn St. in Cambridge to pick up all of the tickets to which they are entitled and to purchase additional tickets. (This desk will be open through Class Day, May 26th at 4:00pm.)

At the Senior Desk they are able to pick up ALL tickets mentioned below; this is the ONLY way for them to pick up ALL tickets. The HAA will mail additional information to parents in March about how they can submit orders to purchase additional tickets.
Students can purchase these tickets with CASH or CHECK when they arrive at the Senior Desk or pick up tickets that their parents have requested and purchased.

REVIEW OF THE 5 TICKETED EVENTS:
1) SENIOR CLASS FAMILY DINNER AND PARTY: Tuesday May 25th at 6:00pm
Tickets are complimentary for the graduating senior and sold separately for each additional guest, children under 5 are free. All reservations must be made in advance; additional ticket information and order forms will be mailed to parents in March. Tickets will also be for sale at the Senior Desk (see above). If parents have ordered tickets, seniors may pick them up at the Senior Desk beginning May 4th or at the event itself.

2) Class Day Picnic: Wednesday, May 26th in the Old Yard, at noon
Each senior is entitled to three complimentary picnic tickets, additional tickets may be purchased at the Senior Desk, everyone that requires a bagged lunch must purchase a ticket beforehand. Tickets are not required for the Class Day Exercises, which follow the picnic, in Tercentenary Theatre at 2:00pm.

3 & 4) Commencement Day: Thursday, May 27th beginning around 8:00am
Seniors in academic regalia (cap and gown) do not need tickets for the Commencement Morning Exercises in Tercentenary Theatre. Family members and guests will require tickets for the Commencement Morning Exercises (3), and for the afternoon Alumni Exercises (4). The Commencement Morning Exercises are extremely crowded and, consequently, tickets are limited to a maximum of four per Senior (No Exceptions). You will receive five afternoon tickets for the Alumni Exercises where addresses by the Harvard President and the Commencement Speaker (TBA) are scheduled. Additional Afternoon tickets will be available at Senior Desk.

5) Commencement Day, House Ceremonies: Thursday, May 27th, in each House, at noon
Between the Morning and Afternoon Commencement Exercises, there is a diploma presentation ceremony and luncheon. This is the ceremony is where the graduate actually receives his/her diploma. Tickets are not required for the ceremony but are required for the luncheon. For all information about the luncheon please contact your senior’s House Office:

In Summary: Every senior will automatically receive one ticket to the Tuesday Night Family Dinner, three tickets to the Class Day picnic, four to the Commencement Day Morning Exercises, and five for the Afternoon Alumni Exercises. Seniors require a ticket for themselves to each of these events except for Commencement Day Exercises where the senior’s Harvard ID and academic regalia are his/her ticket into Harvard Yard.
