The last week of indoor kicked off on Tuesday with two solid games. The Hooligans pulled off their first win of the season against GFW, and then Bling, down 14-11 after 10.5 Will Chen turnovers climbed back to take it 15-14. So, four of the eight final spots have been determined, but two big games have yet to be played. I encourage everyone to come out to check out the last two games of the 2005 Indoor League season. They should be good ones. 9:00 - 5th place game: Bluedman Group v. Tang DyNasty This should be an interesting game that will depend in large part on the personnel for Tang DyNasty. Bluedman does not have an answer for McCarthy, Kolthammer and Velez but can shut down the Jie-to-Gabe combo that we'd see without Josh and Steve. Interesting subplot of this game is Mike MacKenzie's quest for the top of the BCS standings. Look for him to look off open dumps to put 50/50 balls to Willie in the endzone, to go for point blocks while giving up the breakside, and, if all else fails, to change the formula for the BCS rankings. Prediction: At most one of McCarthy/Kolthammer show up and we see a close game. Bluedman group takes the Chumpionship, and MacKenzie is unable to overcome his deficit to Pi in the BCS. 9:45 - Championship: Team As Yet UnNamed v. Cincinnati Bengals The matchup we've all been waiting for. These two teams met before Thanksgiving in a hotly contested game while TAYUN pulled out, 13-11. While the Bengals were without star player Lee Albacker for that game, they will be missing second round draft pick Brian Jin for the finals. Having never seen a loss in a Bengals uniform, can Lee give this team the confidence necessary to take the championship? Or will the depth of TAYUN give them the endurance necessary to pull out a win late in the game? Will Aaron Ross go undefeated in Indoor League for two straight seasons? Or will his former Team Awesome teammate, Jack Marsh, pull out his second straight championship? Can Pi become the first Freshman in Indoor League history to finish atop the BCS standings? Or will he blow it and give the title to Mikey? Prediction: WHO DEY?!?
