sunday was obviously the calm before the storm, and for harvard ultimate, the first northeast tournament of the new year. we drove down to cape cod where the weather was a balmy 32, and got pumped to taste some new england blood. our first game was against dartmouth. they played pretty well, and we were getting used to playing with each other again. but a close game at halftime wasn't close at the end, and we won 12-7. next we had a bye, and then a game against wesleyan. some early turnovers put us behind, and we were down 8-7 at half. at some point, shankar went into battle with one of their players, showing us several layout d's in a row, and pumping us up for the 2nd half. the game was quickly capped at 10, and with the score 9-8 wesleyan, we took our downwind point to tie things up. then after a few turns, we looked to the money connection of carlos to jeff, which was as usual, money for the winning goal. final score, 10-9. the semis had us against middlebury, who i think was missing one of their top players. i don't think it would have mattered though. we came out hucking on o and sticking on d and were up big time at half. kendrick, known to huck upwind and downwind, had a bunch of deep throws for goals. final score was something like 15-5. which left our semi-arch rivals from brown. we started out real strong, taking a quick lead and staying tied at 7. a missed opportunity let brown take half, but things were still close. our game fell apart some in the 2nd half. carlos got hurt, people got tired (me included), and we didn't convert so well. still some highlights, including a sweet grab in the endzone by sam, but unfortunately not enough, and we lost 15-11. still a great tournament for us! missing a bunch of key players, we beat most of our competition and lost a close one to brown, which wasn't missing anyone. luckily we'll see them again. great playing everyone.
