ULTIMAXX skinner vs. skinner. first game vs. oberlin, where skinner's younger brother, skinner, is a freshman on the team. the toughest part of this game might have been the field was definitely on an uphill/downhill slope. uphill goals were a problem all tournament and kept games closer than they probably shouldn't have been. not a tough game, final score 15-8. same deal in the second game vs. george washington, final score 15-8. playing wilmington in game 3, we benefited from them having only 10 players. we had a lot more energy and ran away, final score 15-8 ... again. day 2, quarterfinals vs. berkeley, who came out playing lots of zone d. it took a few points to figure it out, but we did, and built a seemingly commanding lead. things got tight when berkeley had a late run, but a clutch throw from fleming to will sealed it, final score 12-10. the semis vs. san diego promised to be another good game, given our two other close ones already this season. and it was. we took an 8-6 lead at halftime, were up 10-7, and then with the cap at 12, were not chilly enough to put the game away. san diego went on a 5-1 run to win out, 12-11, in a tough tough loss. a good set of games for a week. we played just about all the top teams and generally did well. with both oregon and colorado, we played much more competitively than in february, and stanford was a close game until the end. if there was one thing to take away, it's that these teams have no business being confident against us, and that we should be able to take them point for point the next time out.
