From the current maintenance steward:

  1. If you ever get locked out of your room, I have an extra set of keys to all the room. Call me and we'll get back inside. And please don't hesitate to call, especially while it's so cold at night.
  2. Please let me know if you ever notice something that needs to be fixed or otherwise improved––from a burnt out light bulb to a collapsed ceiling. Really, really, please let me know; things rarely decide to fix themselves. This request goes double for anyone living in 05. I don't get over there too often, and am less likely to notice problems on my own. You can email me, call me, or stop me in my daily wanderings. But speak up!
  3. Speaking of light bulbs, please take a moment to check whether you have any incandescent (i.e. normal looking) bulbs in your room. Most are probably the funny, elongated, buzzy things that schools like to use. But a few fixtures here (like the ones in my room) take incandescent bulbs, and most of our personal lamps probably do as well. Replacing incandescent bulbs with comparably bight compact fluorescent bulbs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent) will reduce our energy usage from lights by about 3/4! (Don't throw out broken compact fluorescent bulbs, by the way. I will make special a box for them to be recycled.)
  4. Let me know if you think something should be built for the co-op. Soon we will make some awesome trellises for the garden, for instance.
