About Us
While officially recognized as a Harvard student organization in May of 1998, the 1998-99 academic year was our first year of activity. With the help of the Office for the Arts, we were able to begin collecting a library of performance music and to contact other flute ensembles, choirs, and organizations throughout the New England area as well as nationwide. Our first performance was with the Harvard Wind Ensemble at their December 1998 concert, where we performed selections from the Mass for June 16 by Henry Brant. We performed for a variety of campus and community Holiday events in December as well. Our year concluded with a performance of Catherine McMichael's A Gaelic Offering in the main sanctuary of Memorial Church for the Performance Fair at Arts First Weekend 1999. Our membership consisted of 13 flutists, many of whom also performed in other campus groups.
