| In the Fall of 2005-2006, the Flute Ensemble did a 250th birthday
tribute to Mozart. We played Mozart's Rondo Capriccioso and his Allegro
Concertante (from Divertimento No. 1). We also performed Elegant Suite
for Three Flutes by Haydn. HUFE performed these three classical pieces
at the Mather House Music Society Winter Concert and at the semesterly
Dunster Library concert. In the Spring, we played selections from
Georges Bizet's "Carmen," including Interlude, Habanera, Carmen's Dance, and Escamillo's Song. HUFE performed three times in the spring: at ArtsFirst in Memorial Church, drawing a crowd of over 100, at the stylish "soiree" at the Center for European Studies, and a quartet performed at the Spring Dunster Library Concert. The spicy Spanish music of "Carmen" was a big hit! |
