Laura Barton from the UK newspaper The Guardian suggests that 2005 marked the beginning of the end of traditional band marketing. Instead of in-print advertisments in music magazines and distributing promotional CDs to radio stations, today’s hottest bands are generating buzz by distributing free MP3s and interacting with their fans:
