about us

Welcome to the on-line home of the First-year Urban Program (FUP)! If you are a FUPpie or leader, please check here for the latest announcements during the summer and throughout the year.

FUP is a student-run program that introduces incoming Harvard College first-year students to the Cambridge-Boston area and to the service and activist community in and around Harvard. FUP participants spend the week preceding Freshman Orientation working on projects for non-profit community organizations. Accompanied by two or three upper-classmen leaders, FUPpies work in teams of six or eight at a project site in the Greater Boston area.

In the evenings, the groups come together for dinner, speakers, discussion groups and social events.

FUP 2008 will involve 100 first-years and 40 leaders. And FUP is entirely free! Housing and food will be provided during the week. Due to limited space and resources, we can only accept a fraction of those who apply, and we maintain an active wait-list.

If you are interested in participating in FUP as either a FUPpie, a leader, a project site, or a speaker, please e-mail us.
