leader info

Hey all you fabulous FUP leaders!

This site is pretty bare-bones at the moment, but will be updated very shortly with more details about arrival plans and other fun stuff. For now, here is some helpful info about what to bring.

We STRONGLY suggest that you bring ONLY what you will need for FUP week. As far as the things you'll need for FUP, here's just a reminder of what you may already know. Think comfortable. Our projects will involve painting, moving, cleaning, gardening, and lots of other activities you probably won't want to be doing in tight leather pants. Bring clothes that you won't mind having splattered with paint, spackle, or first-years. Sturdy work-boots are a plus if you have them, but if not, sneakers or high heels will be fine. On the first full day of FUP we will be taking our traditional "Work That City" eight-hour walking tour of Boston, so comfortable shoes are key. Here's a packing check-off list to go by:

-comfortable, grungy clothes and shoes
-bed linens and towel
-rain gear
-toiletries
-a plastic cup that you can reuse during the week
-about $10 for public transportation (if this is a problem, please let us know… no worries!)
-sunblock, sunglasses
-work gloves if you have them (the garden variety)
-paint/baseball cap
-alarm clock or alarm watch (crucial! - we have some early mornings)
-your reading packets (Don't forget! We won't have extras lying around)
-your FUP T-shirt from your FUP year(s) if you were once a FUPpie or Leader.

Let us know immediately if you have any allergies or special needs (general neediness does not count). Enjoy the reading and the rest of your summer, and get ready for a fabulous week of service, critical discussion of social issues, and FUP spirit! Please call or send us an e-mail with any questions or concerns.

Remember to check this site as often as possible for updates and reminders. Please also send us any thoughts or suggestions you may have on the website or any other matters. Remember that we love you dearly, we support you in your summer endeavors, and we look forward to seeing you soon. Especially if you're in Cambridge. Now, go get 'em!

Love,

Steercom
