Welcome to the Harvard Graduate Dormitory Council website. The GSAS Residence Halls are a great place to live while at Harvard. The Harvard University Graduate Dormitory Council (GDC) is a voluntary student-run organization in GSAS. The main purpose of the GDC is to foster a sense of community among the residents of the GSAS halls via various social activities through the year.

Academic Year 2012-2013

April 20th, 2013: Eighth GDC Meeting

The next GDC meeting will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. There will be voting for four GDC officer positions -- treasurer, social coordinator, athletic officer and public service officer. Attendees can apply for $500 in funding for events and food will be provided.

The GDC officers' meeting will start at 8.30pm.

March 10th, 2013: GDC Elections Meeting

The GDC elections meeting will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. There will be voting for the GDC officer positions. Attendees will also be able to apply for $500 in funding for events. Food will be provided.

February 24th, 2013: Sixth GDC Meeting

The next GDC meeting will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. Attendees will be able to apply for $500 in funding for interesting events. Food will also be provided.

The GDC officers' meeting will start at 8.30pm.

January 26th, 2013: Fifth GDC Meeting

Our first GDC meeting of 2013 will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. Attendees will be able to apply for $500 in funding for interesting events. Food will also be provided.

The GDC officers' meeting will start promptly at 8.30pm.

December 16th, 2012: Fourth GDC Meeting

Our final GDC meeting of 2012 will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. Attendees will be able to apply for $500 in funding for interesting events. Food will also be served.

The GDC officers' meeting will start promptly at 8.30pm.

November 18th, 2012: Third GDC Meeting

Our next GDC meeting of 2012-13 will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. About $500 of funding is available for the events proposed by attendees. Food will also be provided.

The officers' meeting for GDC officers will start at 8.30pm.

October 21st, 2012: Second GDC Meeting

Our second GDC meeting of 2012-13 will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. Food will be provided and about $500 of funding available for the events proposed by attendees. Residents who want to serve as floor representatives should also attend this meeting.

GDC officers are reminded to attend the officers' meeting at 8.30pm as well.

September 16th, 2012: First GDC Meeting!

Our first GDC meeting of 2012-13 will be held at 9pm this Sunday at the Conant lounge. The meeting is an avenue for residents to propose events and obtain funding for holding them. Dinner will also be provided.

GDC officers should come at 8.15pm for the officers' meeting.

September 9th, 2012: Annual Bagel Brunch

The GDC Annual Bagel Brunch will be held at 10AM, Sunday, September 9th, in the 1st floor lounge of Conant Hall.

Please come to enjoy delicious delicious bagels, pastries and drinks with your friends and friendly GDC officers.

Academic Year 2011-2012

April 15th, 2012: GDC Meeting!

Believe it or not, this Sunday we will have the last GDC meeting of 2011-2012. The general meeting, as usual, will be at Conant 1st lounge starting 9pm.
All officers, current and incoming, please come to Conant 1st at 8:30pm on Sunday for an officer-only meeting.

Our next Graduate dormitory council meeting will be at 9:00pm Sunday March 18th. The Meeting will be held in the Conant Hall 1st floor lounge.

GDC SUPER BOWL PARTY! This Sunday, 6pm, Richards Hall

GSAS Residence Halls residents: come out this Sunday to watch the New England Patriots battle the New York Giants in Superbowl XLVI. Come at 6:00 (6:30 kick-off), Richards Hall, basement common room.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, pizza and snackswill be served. Come early to ensure you get seating and food.

January 22nd, 2012: GDC Meeting!

September 25th, 2011: STEELERS FOOTBALL PARTY

Come and join us to cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they take on the Indianapolis Colts on SUNDAY, SEPT. 25 @ 8:20PM!

We will be serving DINNER (kindly funded by GDC) and watching the game in the SECOND FLOOR LOUNGE IN PERKINS HALL.

For anyone who does not know the rules of American Football, come at 8pm for a quick run down of how the game is played.

September 25th, 2011: Qigong for Beginner

Do you want to learn Qigong? (Qigong (气功), a type of traditional Chinese Martial Arts) Do you want to improve your health and build up internal strength?

If yes, please come to this special event brought to you by Li Zeng and Anshul Kumar, co-sponsored by Graduate Dormitory Council (GDC) and Harvard Dudley House. We have invited Master Wang Anlin to teach us some basics of Qigong.

When: Sept. 25, Sunday, 3:30pm-5:30pm

Where: Lawn outside Conant Hall (south of Conant Hall), 36 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA

What: Qigong Basics for Beginnners. No previous experience is required.

Our first Graduate Dormitory Council event: the GDC Welcome Back Cookout will be 6PM-9PM, Sunday, September 4th, on the lawn outside Richards Hall.

This will be a great opportunity for you to know your fellow residents living in the graduate dorms and to give the new semester a kick-off! So please come!

XCESS! Talent show, 4/3/2011, 7:30pm, Richards Basement

Calling All Residents!

YOU are invited to take part in XCESS, the first Residence Hall Talent Show, on the evening of Sunday the 3rd of April, at 7.30pm in Richards Basement. Everyone at Harvard has some special talents or skills. Why not share yours with your fellow residents? You could win fabulous prizes!

$50 gift vouchers for the Harvard Coop will be awarded to the three most interesting and skillful performances. Become a star for a night! A panel of grad student 'experts' will be there to praise you to the heavens!

Performances may be by individuals or teams and should not last much over five minutes. Almost anything will be considered! Below are a few suggestions:

-singing -dancing -instrumental piece (solo, band) -comedy (stand=up, sketch) -magic -variety performance (balancing plates, face-pulling, mental arithmetic...) -your own suggestions!

April 1st, 2010: Barack Obama Presidential visit

7) GDC Presents: An evening with Barack Obama

Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, will visit Conant Hall on Thursday, April 1st, 2010, from 6PM-8PM, to discuss the implications of health care reform with GSAS students.
The President will depart promptly at 8PM by helicopter from Richards lawn.
Formal attire is absolutely required for this event (slacks and jackets for men; formal dresses for women).
Line up outside of Conant Hall by no later than 5:30 PM to be checked in by security.
Faculty and GSAS credulous guests must present Harvard ID.

Public Service is going to be cleaning up the garden at the King Open School this Sunday, 28 March from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
