Welcome to the Harvard Graduate Dormitory Council website. The GSAS Residence Halls are a great place to live while at Harvard. The Harvard University Graduate Dormitory Council (GDC) is a voluntary graduate-student run organization dedicated to keeping it that way! The main purpose of the GDC is to foster a sense of community among the residents of the GSAS halls via various social activities through the year.
August 30th, 2009: GDC Barbecue
Sunday, August 30, 6:00 pm (Richards Hall Lawn): The GDC kicks off the year with its Fall Barbecue! Bring your friends, grab a burger (or veggie burger), and come to meet the residents of Child, Richards, Conant, and Perkins!
September 6th, 2009: GDC Bagel Brunch
2) GDC Bagel Brunch: Sunday, September 6, 10:00 am (Conant Hall Lounge): Have you ever gotten tired of eating bagels? Neither have we. Come join the GDC for bagels, breakfast, and good conversation.
September 20th, 2009: First Official GDC Meeting
3) First Official GDC Meeting: Sunday, September 20, 9:00 pm (Conant Hall Lounge): Are you interested in representing your floor in the greater dormitory community? Do you have an idea for a cultural, recreational, or academic event? Do you have any particular interests or concerns you would like to make the dormitory council aware of? If so ... come to the first Official GDC Meeting! See you there.
October 2-4, 2009: Lord of the Rings Marathon
4) Lord of the Rings Marathon: Friday-Sunday, October 2-4 (Conant Hall Lounge): Come join Danny Orbach, published Tolkien expert, and Florin-Stefan Morar, Tolkien enthusiast, for a screening of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. One film to be shown per evening, Friday 7-10, Saturday 6-9, and Sunday 6-9.
Refreshments provided, sponsored by the GDC.
October 24, 2009: Ping-pong Showdown
5) Ping-pong tournament: Saturday, October 24th (Richards Hall Basement). From 1:30 to 8:00 PM, witness the clash of the greatest ping-pong players in the GSAS residence halls. Open entry, prize money provided to the winners (estimated to be 50-75 USD).
