Boston

Volunteers-- During the past two years, Get Ready! has functioned during the school year as a student organization at Harvard University, with teachers from FAS and the law school, and advisors from the Graduate School of Education.

Classes are held in Boston's South End, at the YMCA on Huntington Ave. in '98-'99 and at Congregacion Leon de Juda, a hispanic church at 68 Northampton St. for '99-'00. At Leon de Juda, Get Ready! works sharing resources with the Higher Education Resource Center.

New York

Volunteers are graduates of Mount Vernon and Scarsdale High Schools.

Classes have been held for the past two summers in Mount Vernon, New York, a small city in southern Westchester County bordering the Bronx. In '98, classes were held at the Community Church at the Circle and in '99 at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon.

Future

Get Ready! plans to run three programs this summer, two in New York and one in Houston. During the '00-'01 school year, Get Ready! will be expanding operations to open new sites in Boston, engaging volunteers from throughout the city's college and universities.
