GENERAL INFORMATION
Like most Americans, you are probably aware of Harvard's
well-deserved liberal reputation. From thousands-strong rallies against
the liberation
of Iraq to a student body that tears down all posters with a conservative
message, our college has its problems. Yet a lesser-known aspect of
Harvard that deserves attention is the increasingly strong and organized
segment of the population that rejects extremist views and seeks
answers to questions of public policy in the doctrines of the Right.
The Harvard Republican Club (HRC) exists to encourage such trends.
As the oldest College Republicans chapter in the country, founded in
1888, we are proud of our rich history of Republican advocacy:
-
HRC wages war on Harvard's entrenched liberalism and
provides students with an intellectual alternative using speakers,
panels, publicity
campaigns, debates and alternative media.
-
HRC works to overturn the
Democratic Party's stranglehold on New England with campaign, registration
and GOTV drives in Massachusetts, New
Hampshire, Rhode Island and other states, and is a strong supporter
of the Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans. HRC is one
of the largest Republican groups of any kind in New England.
-
HRC
provides a community for like-minded students at Harvard with social
events, political forums and opportunities for
intellectual growth.
-
HRC is laying the foundation for the GOP's long-term
success by training tomorrow's activists, grassroots leaders,
candidates and party leaders
today, and by generating party loyalty among future donors.
