I. New, Improved General Meeting Wednesday
- The next HRC general meeting is this Wednesday at 10:00
in the Winthrop Tonkens Room, and we're reworking it to be more
social and fun. Drinks will be served, we're going to have a group
activity and we're going to try to open up the meeting so
that everybody can participate. If you have any ideas, please send
them to Matt (mdowner@fas).
Upcoming board meetings: March 23, April 6, April 20.
II. Congressman Jim Kolbe - Today! - Don't miss
your chance to eat lunch with Republican Congressman Jim Kolbe.
Kolbe is the only openly gay Republican member of Congress, and is
bound to be interesting. The lunch is today at 1PM
in the Alison Dining Room at the KSG, Taubman 5th Floor. To RSVP,
email Matt Downer immediately (mdowner@fas).
III. Campus Social Security Campaign Begins Now! -
HRC's campus campaign for Social Security reform starts this week,
and you'll want to get in on the action! We'll be handing out
flyers, postering and putting up signs. If you want to help, email
Stephen (sdewey@fas). We're
particularly interested in getting freshmen in the Yard to cover
their windows with signs. Also email Stephen if you have
any other campaign ideas.
IV. St. Patrick's Day Party - Saturday! - Come
party with the HRC and members of other College Republican clubs
from around the city this Saturday in the Lowell Belltower! The
party will be from 10 PM to 2 AM. The belltower is up a long
flight of steps immediately on your right as you enter Lowell.
V. Become a House Rep - We
are still looking for volunteers in a few houses to be House
Reps. You will be responsible for finding Republicans in your
House and getting them to come to social events and General
Meetings. You will get a budget to throw mini-events every
semester. We still need House Reps in Dunster,
Kirkland, Leverett, Lowell and Pfoho.
Let John (souther@fas) know if
you are interested.
VI.
HPU Thursday - Gun Control - HPU's topic of the week is
Gun Control. Come debate your fellow students at 6:00 on Thursday
in the IOP First Floor Conference Room. Contact Vivek (ramasw@fas)
with questions.
VII.
Debate With the Dems - Wed. 3/16 - HRC has confirmed that
our first debate with the Dems, on Social Security, will be held
on Wednesday the 16th. Final time and location TBA in next
week's bulletin.
VIII.
Take Back The Night! HRC has signed on as a co-sponsor of
the Take Back The Night campaign against rape. We will forward you
more information about this worthy program as it becomes
available.
IX. Get Your New HRC T-Shirt! -
T-shirts are $10 and can be purchased from John Souther;
email him at souther@fas.harvard.edu.
