Quote of the week...

"As the nomination process moves ahead, I look forward to reviewing Ms. Miers' qualification and her views on the proper role of the judiciary. I am hopeful that the confirmation process will be both fair and civil."

- Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC), commenting on the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

 I. Conservative Women's Conference - Friday and Saturday - The Conservative Women's Caucus is proud to present "Right Here, Right Now: A Conservative Women's Conference." This is Harvard's first such conference. Panel topics include: Sex, Lies and Feminism; Balancing Family and Public Service; and Women and Foreign Policies. We're extremely excited about this unprecedented conference and encourage all of you to attend as much of it as possible. See a conference schedule and details at www.RightHereRightNow.org.

II. HRC Trip to DC - Filling Up Fast - In only three weeks, HRC will take our first-ever clubwide trip to Washington, D.C.! Our itinerary will include time for meeting with important players in the GOP and Washington politics, sightseeing and socializing. We will leave in the early morning of the 3rd and get back at night on the 5th. There are only a few seats still available, and we can only reserve one for you if you pay the non-refundable $50 deposit (cash or check). To do so, contact Stephen Dewey (sdewey@fas).

III. HRC Study Break Wednesday - HRC's next study break is this Wednesday at 8 PM in the Eliot JCR (through the Eliot House dining hall, at the end of the hallway). We will be discussing the Miers nomination. Bring your opinions. Also bring your sweet tooth because free Finale's dessert will be served. This is an RSEP/Policy Division event. Contact Mark (mshepard@fas) or CR (sincock@fas) with questions.

IV. Ken Mehlman at the IOP Today - RNC Chairman and BC '04 Campaign Manager Ken Mehlman will visit Ben Ginsberg's study group at the IOP today (Tuesday). The event runs from 4 to 5:30 and is in room L-166 at the Institute of Politics. The focus of the study group will be on the 2000 and 2002 elections.

V. Congratulations to Josh Downer! - Congratulations to Josh Downer, who was elected HRC's next Freshman Member-at-Large at Wednesday's board meeting.
