I. HRC-HLF-Salient Debate - Thursday - At 7:30pm this Thursday, March 16, HRC will host our first-ever official internal debate in the Starr Auditorium at the Kennedy School, joined by debaters from the Harvard Libertarian Forum and the Harvard Salient. The topic is the legalization of controlled substances, including marijuana and other drugs. An HRC debater will be on either side, joined by a debater from HLF on the pro-legalization side and a debater from the Salient on the anti-legalization side. Questions, or to volunteer to debate, contact Daren (stanaway@fas).

 

II. Board Meeting - Wednesday - Mark your calendars for this Wednesday, March 15, for our general board meeting at 10pm in Leverett JCR. Feel free to come even if you're not on the general board. We will not be meeting at the John Harvard statue

III. Iran Freedom Concert - Saturday - HRC is co-sponsoring the Iran Freedom Concert next Saturday, March 18, from 9-11 PM in Leverett dining hall, and you have the opportunity to be part of the HRC delegation at the show! The concert will feature live musical performances as well as speeches by Iranian human rights activists, such as Akbar Atri. Free Iranian Food will be provided. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP as soon as possible to Daren at stanaway@fas. Admission is FREE!

 

IV. Celtics Game - Monday - The HRC is taking a trip to the Boston Celtics game, and you’re invited! Join us next Monday, March 20, as the Celtics take on the L.A. Lakers at the Fleet Center. Tickets are $26 and include a FREE pizza dinner beforehand. We'll be dining at Halftime Pizza at 6pm before heading to the Celtics game, which begins at 7:30pm. V. Felzenberg Study Group - Wednesday - From 4-5:30pm this Wednesday, March 15, Dr. Al Felzenberg will be conducting a seminar on "Bipartisanship in Modern U.S. Politics."  The seminar will take place in the first floor conference room at the IOP and will feature one of the leaders of the Heritage Foundation as a guest speaker.

 

VI. Conservative Book Club - The HRC is currently considering starting a conservative book club, which would feature readings by a number of prominent conservatives, followed by live meetings and discussions with their authors. If you would be interested in participating in the book club, e-mail Ryan (rmccaffr@fas) to express your interest.

 

VII. Buy a T-Shirt - You can buy an HRC T-shirt for $10 by emailing Mark Shepard at mshepard@fas.harvard.edu to arrange for payment and shipping/pickup.

 

VIII. Pay Dues - If you haven't paid your $5 dues for the year yet, you can do so by mailing it with your name and email address to Jeffrey Kwong, 1774 Harvard Yard Mail Center, Cambridge, MA 02138. Paying dues gets you a membership card, priority in our events, and other benefits.
