I. RSEP - Wednesday - Join us at this week's RSEP study break as our own Mark Jackson leads a lively discussion on the new Massachusetts mandatory health insurance law. The event will take place on Wednesday at 9pm in Leverett JCR. As always, Finale desserts will be served. Questions? Contact Mark (mshepard@fas).

II. HRC Texas Night BBQ - April 29th - Join your fellow Republicans on Saturday, April 29, for a night of ribs, brisket, burgers, hot dogs, and poker! Following a barbecue at the bridge behind Leverett House, we will have a No-Limit Texas Hold-'Em Tournament. There will be a $100 cash prize for first place. The cost for the entire event is $20. If you are interested in participating, please contact John at souther@fas.

III. Join the HRC Softball Team! - Calling all ball-players! HRC will be forming a softball team to play a game against The Crimson this spring, and this is your chance to join the action and crush The Crimson! Players of all levels and abilities are welcome, and feel free to recruit your other Republican baseball player friends as well. The game will take place on Friday, April 28, at 3pm, location TBA. E-mail Ted (tskowron@fas) with your name, house, year, preferred e-mail address, and glove hand (if you need a glove) as soon as possible if you're interested in playing for HRC.

IV. Join the Conservative Book Club! - Throughout April, the conservative book club will be reading Manliness by Harvard's own Harvey Mansfield. We are also in the process of planning a catered dinner discussion with Professor Mansfield himself. E-mail Ryan (rmccaffr@fas) to join, and purchase your copy of Manliness from Ryan or on the Book Club's website: http://hcs.harvard.edu/~gop/cons_book_club.html.

V. Discussion with the RNC's Director of Hispanic Outreach - Tuesday - Rafael Bejar, Director of Hispanic Outreach for the Republican National Committee, will speak at IOP Fellow Ken Cooper's study group this week to discuss the role of Latinos in partisan politics in America. The seminar will take place this Tuesday from 4-5:30pm in the Faculty Dining Room at the Institute of Politics.

VI. Next General Board Meeting - Wednesday, April 19 - The next HRC general board meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 19, at 10pm, in the Leverett JCR. Feel free to come even if you're not on the general board. Questions? Contact Stephen (sdewey@fas).

VII. Congratulations to HRC's Mike Miltenberger, '08, and Carmen Lara, '09!  At the annual MACR conference this weekend, Mike was elected to his second term as Chairman of the Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans (MACR), and Carmen received appointment as Vice-Chair of the Conservative Women's Caucus (CWC) of MACR. Both will undoubtedly provide valuable contributions to the organization in the year to come!

VIII. Congressman Toomey at Suffolk - Monday - Join the Suffolk University Republicans and the Suffolk Government Department on Monday, April 10, as they welcome former Congressman Patrick Toomey to campus. He will be speaking on domestic and foreign affairs at 7pm in Room 311 of the Frank Donahue Building on Suffolk's Beacon Hill campus. Contact Nathan Shrader (nathanrshrader@yahoo.com) with questions.

IX. Job Opportunities in Governor Romney's Office - The Office of the Governor has several full-time paid entry-level employment opportunities, including a Constituent Services Aide and Correspondence Aide, for current college seniors interested in serving in the Administration. To apply, send a resume and cover letter to David DeSousa, Director of Human Resources for the Office of the Governor, at David.J.Desousa@state.ma.us. Questions should also be directed to this address.
