Hello, fellow Republicans! HRC has a number of exciting events coming up this week! Here's what's happening:

I. General Board Meeting - Wednesday - Join your fellow Harvard Republicans for this week's General Board Meeting! We'll be discussing important plans for the upcoming year, including campaign trips, our new committee structure, and other opportunities for you to get involved in HRC. The meeting will be held this Wednesday at 10 PM in Leverett House JCR. Pizza will be provided! A representative from HRC will be at the John Harvard Statue at 9:40 PM to lead a group from the yard to Leverett. All are welcome! Questions? Contact John (souther@fas).

II. Immigration Debate - Thursday - Come support HRC as your fellow Republicans join the Dems in a debate over the nation's current immigration policies! HRC will be sponsoring two debaters, one on either side of the immigration issue, so regardless of your perspective, your viewpoint will be represented. The event will take place this Thursday from 8-9 PM in the Lamont Library Forum Room. Contact Daren (stanaway@fas) with questions.

III. Military Appreciation and Support at Harvard (MASH) Event with U.S. Marine - Friday - Join Richard Hudak, U.S. Marine and member of the Harvard Class of 1966, for a discussion this Friday from 5-6 PM, location TBA. Hudak served as a Marine Captain in the Vietnam War, worked as a Special Agent in the FBI for 11 years, and is currently director of corporate security at Loews Corporation.

IV. HRC Committee Meetings - October 5 and 11 - In conjunction with this year's new HRC initiatives, we'll be forming three committees this semester to take on various important prerogatives of the HRC. Freshmen and upperclassmen alike are encouraged to attend one or more of the introductory committee meetings to find out how to get more involved. The meeting schedule is as follows:

Social Activities Committee - 9 PM Wednesday, October 11, location TBA. Contact: Zach (zsmith@fas).
Speakers and Political Discourse Committee - 10 PM Wednesday, October 11, location TBA. Contact: Daren (stanaway@fas).

V. Campaign for Rick Santorum - October 13-15 - Join Republicans from Harvard and across the northeast on a weekend excursion to Pennsylvania to campaign for the reelection of Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. More details to come. Contact Mark (jackson8@fas) with questions.

VI. Campaign for Kerry Healey - October 28 - HRC will join College Republicans from across the state on a Saturday trip to Cape Cod to campaign for Massachusetts Republican gubernatorial candidate and Harvard graduate Kerry Healey, as well as a local state house race. (Note: this trip was originally scheduled for October 7). More information regarding sign-ups is to come. Questions? Contact Mark (jackson8@fas).

VII. Christina Martin Study Group - Thursday - Join Christina Martin, former Press Secretary to Newt Gingrich and former member of President George H.W. Bush's administration, for her study group this week at the IOP! The study group will meet weekly on Thursdays from 4-5:30 PM in IOP room L-166. VIII. Pay Dues - To become a dues-paid member of the Harvard Republican Club, send a check for $5 made out to "Harvard Republican Club" via University Mail to Jeffrey Kwong, Winthrop Mail Center 264. Be sure to include your name and e-mail address in the envelope. Paying dues gets you a membership card, priority in our events, the right to vote in our elections, and other benefits.
