I.HRC Victorious At MACR Conference  
First, a big thanks to those members of the HRC who were able to attend this weekend's MACR conference. Congratulations are in order for HRC Vice-President of Campus Activism, Colin Motley, for being elected to the position Eastern Vice Chairman of the MACR. More congratulations sent out to HRC members in general, as Harvard was the recipient of the chapter of the year award! Nice work everyone!

 

 

II.Support Our Troops Week-

To follow up on the successful Support Our Troops Week held by the HRC earlier this year, the HRC is co-sponsoring another donation drive for our military members in Iraq and Afghanistan with the College Democrats and Harvard ROTC Association. Be prepared to again give donations of nonperishable food items, toiletries, entertainment items, and money for our men and women serving in uniform each night next week, April 16-20, during dinner in Annenberg, Mather, Quincy , and Pfoho dining halls. If you're interested in helping out with tabling in any of these dining halls, contact Colin Motley (cmotley@fas.harvard.edu).

William Kristol , Lecturer in Public Policy, has been editor of The Weekly Standard since its founding in 1995. He is also an analyst for the Fox News Channel. From 1993 to 1995 he led the Project for the Republican Future, where he helped shape the strategy that produced the 1994 Republican congressional victory. He served as Chief of Staff to former Vice President Dan Quayle during the first Bush Administration, and, from 1985 to 1988, was Chief of Staff to Secretary of Education William Bennett under former President Ronald Reagan. Before that, he taught at the Kennedy School (1983 to 1985) and in the political science department at the University of Pennsylvania (1978 to 1983). He has coedited several books, including The
Neoconservative Imagination ; Educating the Prince: Essays in Honor of Harvey Mansfield ; and Present Dangers . In 2003 he coauthored The War Over Iraq . He received his AB and PhD from Harvard University .

Celtics Game-

Join us on Wednesday, April 18th to watch the Celtics take on the Detroit Pistons.  We'll be meeting at the Harvard Square T-stop at 6:30pm and should return to Harvard by 10:30pm.  The cost is only $20 and includes transportation.  RSVP to zsmith@fas.harvard.edu if you're interested.  Remember, space is running out!



V. IOP Republican Study Groups-

Republicans Kerry Healey, Nancy Johnson, and Chriss Winston are among this semester's class of fellows at the IOP. Mrs. Healey's "Beyond Rhetoric of Reform: How to Turn Good Intentions into Effective Public Policy" study group takes place on Mondays from 4:00 - 5:30. Mrs. Johnson's study group, "Health Care Reform," takes place on Tuesdays from 4:00 - 5:30; for more information, contact Brian Bolduc at bolduc@fas.harvard.edu. VI. Pre-Frosh Weekend Pizza/Ice-Cream Social
Hey HRC members, come welcome the future members of the class of 2011 to the conservative side of Harvard-- (and convince them not to go to Yale)—at our annual pre-frosh pizza/ice-cream social Saturday, 4/21, at 12pm. There will be lots of free pizza and, as always, an interesting discussion. Former George H.W. Bush speechwriter, Chriss Winston, will be joining us. Hope to see you there!

 

 

VII. Help Out With Pre-Frosh Weekend!
The HRC needs your help in making pre-frosh weekend run smoothly! Contact Chris Higgins if you are able to help out in the following areas:

1. Postering in the Freshman dorms on Friday afternoon at 3pm
2. Wearing the elephant suit on Friday evening and saturday morning
