I. APRIL 29: Bilingual Education Debate
The Latino Political Coalition proudly presents...
"Bilingual Education: Sí o No?"
A Debate Between the Harvard Democrats and the Harvard Repubicans!
6 PM Land Lecture Hall (Belfer, 4th floor) at the Kennedy School
Join us for a passionate debate about a controversial issue
that has millions of Americans talking. As the U.S.'s Latino immigrant
population increases, many U.S. public schools across the country face
the challenge of teaching students who come from predominately
Spanish-speaking households. Should our public schools adapt by
adopting a bilingual sytem of education that incorporates both English
and Spanish? Or is complete English immersion best for the children?
This debate will be moderated by the distinguished Professor Catherine
Snow, Henry Lee Shattuck Professor of Education at the Harvard
Graduate School of Education.
This event is open to the entire Harvard community. Come join us
Tuesday evening at 6pm for food, a debate between the Harvard
Democrats and the Harvard Republicans, and the opportunity to ask each
side questions of your own!!!

II. APRIL 29: Senator Allen at Wellesley
The Wellesley College Republicans will be hosting their annual Spring Lecture on
Tuesday, April 29. They have worked very hard to be able to have George
Allen as the keynote speaker. Former Senator Allen will be speaking on
the topic of illegal immigration, one of much controversy on liberal
campuses such as Harvard and Wellesley. This lecture will be
very engaging and Wellesley would like to extend an invitation to the Harvard
Republican Club.
III. APRIL 29: General Board Meeting
Meet us in the Adams UCR at 8 PM for a fun gathering with
ice cream cake. We'd love to discuss how the HRC and all of our events
went this year, hearing from you in an informal setting. Please come
by to hang out with fellow members and reflect onthe HRC's impact on
the 2007-2008 school year.
IV. MAY 2: BBQ
Join us for an end-of-the-year BBQ after your classes get out on
Friday afternoon. We'll eat, drink, and have a great time celebrating
the 2007-2008 school year! The BBQ also unofficially marks
Talk-Like-Caleb-Weatherl Day, where everyone in the HRC is encouraged
to do their best to adopt an incredibly deep voice.
