Welcome to the Harvard Graduate Christian Community (HGCC) homepage! We serve students at a number of Harvard graduate schools: Arts and Sciences (GSAS), Education (GSE), Design (GSD), Divinity (HDS), and more.

We are a community of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty who challenge each other to submit our lives to Jesus Christ. His message changes all aspects of our lives - spiritual, intellectual, and relational. We therefore seek to unite our faith and scholarship through prayer, worship, study of scripture, discussion, and more. We welcome those who do not come as Christians to join us in exploring who Jesus really is.

The HGCC is a university-recognized student organization supported by InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and affiliated with the Harvard chaplains.

Announcements: (last updated 9 Nov 2011)

  • Welcome new and returning students / scholars!

Join our email list by clicking here! (This is our main method of communication within the community, and it's the best way to stay up-to-date on what's happening.) Stay tuned to the email list for announcements about activities as we start the 2011-2012 academic year.

We encourage those new to campus to be connected to a local church. We have compiled a list of local churches, along with contact information for hosts at each church who would be delighted at the chance to introduce you to their community.

  • Highlights of Upcoming Activities:

    • Take a look at an abbreviated schedule of upcoming activities but make sure to sign up for our email list to receive announcements with more details
    • Our first Fireside Forum will be held in the Graduate Student Lounge at Dudley House on Wed 31 Aug at 7pm (second floor up the stairs to the right). Dinner will be served, and in addition to introductions and warm welcomes to new and returning students, there will be a panel discussion called Stories from Graduate School. We will hearing from older members of the Christian community about their stories and insights on following Jesus as students and scholars. We will also introduce the various small groups meeting around campus.
    • We will be going on a day trip together to Middlesex Fells on Sat 3 Sep. Stay tuned to the email list for details about the trip!
    • The first Worship Night of the year will take place on Fri 9 Sep at 8pm at Philips Brooks House. These evenings bring together fellowships from across all the Harvard graduate and professional schools for a time of worship through music, prayer, sharing, conversation, and more. More details will be sent out over the email list.
    • Various groups of students and scholars from our community will start meeting in early September to explore together in a smaller setting who Jesus is and what implications that has for our lives - academic and in general. They will walk through a book of the Bible together, or read a challenging book by a Christian thinker, or something else. Stay tuned to the email list for an invitation to sign up for these.
    • Our fall retreat will be over the Columbus Day long weekend, Fri 7 - Sun 9 Oct. Mark it down in your calendars and sign up early here
