COMPREHENSIVE LISTINGS TO ALL STUDENT ROOMS

The Crimson Calendar is a comprehensive listing of on and off-campus events available online and in the newspaper. The calendar features events such as plays, dances, concerts, lectures, readings, sports competitions, meetings, and career information sessions.

Events appear both in our Online Calendar (www.thecrimson.harvard.edu/calendar), and daily on "The Real World" page, page 2 of the paper version of the Crimson no door-dropped free to all undergraduate dorm rooms every morning. They also appear in the Listings section of FM which comes out on Thursdays.

Entering events into the calendar is easy. The Crimson accepts listings from both individuals and organizations. To enter an event you must include the title, category, logistics (date, time, and place) and two descriptions: one for the paper (up to 25 words) and a longer one for the website (up to 150 words).

You can also add deadlines, events that occur at multiple times (Movie, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.) recurring events (Korean table in Quincy every Wednesday). In addition you are able to jump ahead in our calendar to see events that are happening in the future to prevent conflicts with other groups' events.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR EVENTS

  • Go to "Add Events" in the "Administrative" section of the calendar page (www.thecrimson.harvard.edu/calendar)
  • E-mail us at calendar@thecrimson.harvard.edu
  • Drop off a flier describing your event in ther listings box in the foyer of the Crimson building at 14 Plympton Street, between Adams House anmd the Harvard Book Store.
  • Call us at 495-9666 ext. 295 and leave a messge in the voice mail box.

Though we do have volunteers who enter events from emails and fliers, the most consistent way to guarantee that an event is going to be in our calendar is to enter it directly into the web yourself. Please be aware that student organizations are responsible for the events entered under their account names. We ask you to avoid using all CAPITAL LETTERS when entering events. This is also a good way to bring an event to the attention of news executives, as Crimson news executives often check the website to see what is happening the next day for articles.

Students organizations can enter events directly into the calendar by registering for a password-protected account. If you haven't already, register now by going to http://www.thecrimson.harvard.edu/calendar/ and clicking on "Register Account." Otherwise, students can evnter events subject to approval through the same process listed above.

Events should be entered by 5:00 p.m. the day before they are scheduled to appear. If the event is for the weekend, please enter it by the Monday at 5:00 p.m. before the weekend in order to make the FM deadlines.

MERGING CALENDARS

Many people have noted the redundancy between the College Calendar http://www.college.harvard.edu) and the Crimson Calendar. The two calendars are completely distinct, but the College and Crimson are presently in discussions to merge the interfaces in the long term. However, this will take several months to complete. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask you to continue entering events in both calendars in the meantime.
