The Harvard College Online Calendar has been developed by the
Harvard Computer Society to
provide a central listing of all kinds of events that are of interest to
Harvard students, and to give student organizations a quick, simple method
of publicizing their events.
Event Listings
The Today@Harvard
listing, located on the Events page, displays events taking place in
the next 24 hours.
Internal meetings, rehearsals, and practices are not included in this
list. You can click on the title of any event to see the full listing
for that event.
Events by
Category organizes the events into ten separate categories:
Announcements,
Arts &
Performance,
Cultural &
Social,
Government &
Politics,
Lectures &
Conferences,
Public
Service,
Religion,
Resources &
Support,
Science &
Technology,
and Sports.
Each category displays events in the calendar for the next two weeks.
Administrative Tools
The Administrative
Tools page allows organizations to add, delete, modify, and cancel
events.
The Add Event
form allows registered organizations to add new events to the calendar.
Simply follow the directions on the form and provide the information
requested. You need to have a calendar username and password to add
an event. This is different from your regular Unix password; each
organization gets a special calendar username and password when you
register (see below).
Once your organization has events in the calendar, you can modify, delete,
or cancel them through the
List Events
page. This page lists your events and allows you to make any changes you
wish. If you delete an event, it will disappear right away from the
calendar; if you cancel an event, it will still appear on the calendar but
will be specially marked as "cancelled". You can also uncancel an event
that you have cancelled.
Before adding any events, you need to
Register
your organization. Any organization that is officially affiliated with
Harvard in any way is eligible to be registered. Each organization has
a username and password allowing its officers to add events.
A registered organization can
Update its
information at any time, including address, phone number, and contact
people.
