Dean Ellison has overall responsibility for Graduate School policy. He is guided by the Committee on Graduate Education and the Educational Policy Committee, and is chair of the Administrative Board of the Graduate School.

Dean Gill is responsible for implementing Graduate School policy. She supervises the work of the offices under her management and the day-to-day operations of the Graduate School's administration.

Garth McCavana

Associate Dean of Student Affairs

Dean McCavana has general responsibility for the welfare of graduate students and monitors students' academic status, progress, and discipline. He oversees the GSAS Residence Halls, the Office of Student Services, and Housing Services in Dudley House. The Student Affairs Office administers various graduate fellowship competitions and processes, as well as leave, travel, and re-admission applications. Dean McCavana represents students in disciplinary cases before the Administrative Board; advises students on sexual harassment complaints; coordinates orientation and registration activities, and is available for general advice and consultation on any matters concerning your time at Harvard. As an alumnus of Harvard GSAS and a former officer of the GSC, he is quite familiar with the rewards and difficulties of being a graduate student, and can be a great resource and helpful listener.

Russell Berg

Dean Berg oversees the day-to-day administration of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. He also supervises the Office of Computer Operations and the Office of Special Students and Visiting Fellows.

Ellen Fox

Ellen Fox, Director of Student Services, is your primary listener for academic and personal concerns. She serves an advisory role, providing advice and information related to resources available to GSAS students, with regard to sexual harassment policies, counseling and other support services, student-faculty relationships, and more. She also supervises the GSAS Resident Advisors, and is knowledgeable about the Cambridge and Boston areas.

Ellen meets by appointment and holds a weekly drop-in hour at her office in Dudley House, room B-2. Beginning October 2, the drop-in hour is every Tuesday from 1:30-2:30pm.
