Increase in this expense can be attributed to the increased demand by
graduate students for funding to facilitate attendance at conferences and
for summer research.
Decrease in this expense can be attributed to a lower cost for the
event and for holding only a singly large lunch with department
administrators at the beginning of the academic year.
Decreease in this expense can be attributed to the GSC's proposal to
have the Harvard Graduate Council operate the basketball league (because
a major motivation of the league is to facilitate interaction between
various Harvard graduate schools), and because expenses have exceeded
revenue estimates.
Decrease in this expense can be attributed to a decrease in the hours
of the office assistant, and the plan to look for a work-study student to
fill this position.
Decrease in this expense can be attributed to increased collaboration
and cost-sharing arrangements which the GSC is pursuing with Dudley House. Although
the total number of Pub Nights is not expected to decrease, the number
which are solely the responsibility of the GSC is expected to be
reduced.
