| Description |
The Harvard Organization of Portuguese Speakers is an organization of
Portuguese-speaking students at Harvard, and particularly students at
GSAS, which helps to enhance their experience of their common language and
cultural heritage within the Harvard community. The group works to
promote within the Harvard community, through cultural and informative
events, a good understanding of the societies using Portuguese as a
vehicle of communication, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guine-Bissau,
East Timor, Mozambique, Portugal, and Sao Tome e Principe. It provides
opportunities for fellowship among Portuguese speakers at Harvard and
between them and other members of the Harvard community. The group
promotes fellowship between Portuguese-speaking graduate students and
students whose academic focus is a Portuguese-speaking culture or country,
helps orient new Portuguese-speaking students to life at Harvard and is
enthusiastic about cooperating with other organizations that share common
objectives.
