1st Beginner's Chess Tournament
22 students participated in the 1st Beginner's Chess Tournament held in the basement of Lowell Hall on November 5th 2006. Tournament format was 5 rounds swiss, G/5. Cash prizes were given to the top 3 places ($30-20-10). Final results are now posted.Results of the 2005 Harvard Open
57 participants played in the 2005 Harvard Open, which was held in the Harvard University Science Center on the weekend of May 7th and 8th. The results from the tournament are now available online: results for the Open Section or Results for the U1800 Section. Congratulations to GM Alexander Ivanov, who won the Open Section with 4.5/5.0, and to Joshua Dunton, who won the U1800 section with a perfect score.Special thanks to IM Satea Husari for his analysis on Sunday, the Crimson Key Club for giving a tour of Harvard on Saturday, and to the Boylston, Metrowest Chess Club, and MACA for helping us advertise the event.
2005-06 Sunday Blitz Results
The Harvard Chess Club hosts Sunday Blitz tournaments every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Tournament format is 6 rounds G/5. Entree fee is $2 for students with a Harvard ID and $5 for non-students. 75% of all entree fees are returned in section prizes; the remaining 25% is contributed to club events.
