The Finance and Investment Group organizes events designed to help club members acquire a foundation of finance knowledge and develop the skills necessary to make better personal investment decisions. Events include bimonthly student-led discussion groups, each focusing on a specific investment topic (e.g. growth vs. value investing, indexing vs. active management, options trading, etc.). Discussion groups will also be held in which several participants each give a brief (3-5 minute) presentation regarding a particular stock, followed by group analysis of whether or not the stock is a strong investment. The Finance and Investment Group also hosts occasional lectures and seminars with finance professionals that are geared toward providing expert investment advice and information regarding careers in finance. Any questions or programming ideas may be directed to Joshua Mosberg (email@example.com).
Participants in this semimonthly journal club practice analyzing business problems and stay apprised of world affairs through student-led discussions of articles from authoritative business periodicals such as The Economist, Bloomberg, Businessweek and Harvard Business Review. All club members are encouraged to attend.
The Mini-MBA is an intensive 5-week business course designed to give an overview of the material MBA students encounter in the first year of business school. The curriculum is based on The 10-Day MBA, by Steven Silbiger, with each course module corresponding to one chapter of the book. However, though this text is used as a central learning tool, the course is designed to provide participants with an experience they could not achieve with the book alone. Business school professors and top industry professionals lead case discussions or deliver lectures at each of our weekly meetings. This provides students with the opportunity to engage with complex business problems and learn from real-world scenarios under the guidance of some of the world’s top business thinkers.
The HGBC Mini-MBA Course is not an accredited degree program nor is it affiliated with or sanctioned by Harvard Business School.

We are pleased to announce the creation of the HGBC Conference Sponsorship Program. To enable HGBC members to access a broader range of educational and networking opportunities, we will be sponsoring the attendance of HGBC members at a number of local business-related conferences throughout the year. HGBC will typically sponsor 2-3 members per conference, by paying or partially subsidizing entrance fees.
These conference sponsorship opportunities will be announced exclusively through the HGBC mailing list.
Past conferences: HBS Entrepreneurship Conference, HBS Healthcare Conference.
Please feel free to contact Josh Mosberg (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Gairik Sachdeva (email@example.com) with any questions regarding the program, or suggestions for future conferences to sponsor.
