The mourning of 9/11 had barely begun when the US government launched
its bombing of Afghanistan in a spirit of revenge.
Claiming to target only "terrorists", the bombings have killed several
thousand
innocent civilians, and have not yet stopped.
The tragedy of 9/11 was the most devastating crime of the last half century. It was planned by a small group of people, many of whom
killed themselves in the attack, and these people should be prosecuted to
the fullest extent of national and international law.
US Missile Attack on Kandahar
Instead, the planners of 9/11 still run free, and the U.S. has focused on
replacing
a despicable religious regime with a controversial secular regime.
For the sins of a few, 20 million Afghani people have suffered
the terror of US-led bombings, only to end up still without sufficient
food or education.
These deficiencies in food and education are exactly the conditions that
allowed the US-sponsored Mujahideen forces to become the terrorist organization
Al Qaeda in the early 1990s.

More Background
HIPJ was created in response to the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001.
A week after the attacks, HIPJ and over 140 college campuses across
the country coordinated rallies to counter the widespread calls for
military retailation. We believe that war is neither the moral
nor the practical response to terrorism and violence. For that reason,
we are calling for an immediate end to the war in Afghanistan. We
believe that ending the war in Afghanistan is the only humane option,
and that an end to the war will do more to protect Americans from future
acts of terrorism than continued military engagement.
