Updated info about the occupation of Iraq.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis died during the Gulf War.

Destruction from that war combined with a dozen years of U.N. sanctions have killed hundreds of thousands more.

Now that Bush has his way, that's only the beginning.

Of 150,000-200,000 Iraqi deaths resulting from the 1991 Gulf War, at least 86,000 were civilians.

In the wake of deliberate damage to electricity-generating as well as water storage and treatment facilities, in coordination with placement of chlorine and medicines on the UN sanctions list, epidemics have ensued: every day Iraqi citizens die from easily preventable causes such as dehydration and waterbourne illnesses (cholera, diarrhea, etc.).

The Iraqi oil well fires that released acrid smoke with deleterious health consequences, gushing oil wells that spilled 4-8 million barrels of oil into the sea, combined with bombings and landmines produced unprecedented environmental damage.

Disease, malnutrition, and mortality in Iraq have already risen catastrophically -- this is real. Yet the Bush administration's claims of a serious Iraqi threat remain vague and unsubstantiated.
