Not only will you hear about our plans and future events on campus, but you will also get to know our members and learn about the Latin American culture and community.

Last week, HOLA members had the opportunity to meet with Michèle Pierre-Louis, former Prime Minister of Haiti, for an engaging discussion about the role of youth and the importance of education in strengthening democracy and development. The event took place in the Kirkland Small Dining Room, where Mrs. Pierre-Louis shared her experience and opinion with us in a very intimate environment.

Michèle Pierre-Louis became Prime Minister of Haiti on September 5th 2008, after a series of internal and external shocks that hit the country in the summer of that same year: food and oil crisis, government crisis and a succession of 4 hurricanes which destroyed the country’s fragile infrastructure and environment. Only the second woman to hold this position, Prime Minister Pierre-Louis also served as Minister of Justice and Public Security.
