An evening with Sebastian Mazzuca

Following an old HOLA tradition, we held our first student-faculty discussion with Argentine lecturer Sebastian Mazzuca, who led a very interesting discussion about the historical development of Latin American economies and the prospects for their future. Mazzuca emphasized the increasingly important role of Brazil as an economic power both within Latin America and in the larger global community.

Mazzuca studied economics and political science at UC Berkeley. His work focuses on the origins and transformations of national states and political regimes, and has been published in Comparative Politics, Hispanic American Historial Review, and Studies in International Comparative Development.
