Application guidelines
The Housing Opportunities
Program (HOP) provides no-interest loans to persons in danger of eviction from their homes, as well as those
seeking to move from transitional to permanent housing. Loans are given on the basis
of the application process, which includes the following written
application and a personal interview. Priority is given to individuals referred by other service organizations. Upon approval, a flexible repayment
schedule will be worked out according to the clients
financial situation.
Information provided to HOP
throughout the application process is used solely for the purpose
of making the loan and evaluating the programs of HOP. HOP
reserves the right to call the clients landlord, employer,
and support service provider for verification of all
information.
Please use the following
guidelines to ensure that your application is complete and can be
processed promptly.
1. It is to the clients
advantage to fill out this application as completely and
accurately as possible. Any dishonesty will result in immediate
termination of the application.
2. HOP encourages the client to
enclose any additional information or to explain a response to any
particular item in order to give our loan officer a more accurate
picture of the clients situation.
3. The client must fill out the
monthly budget sheet in conjunction with the clients support
service provider. Please attach legal notices (such as petition,
judgment, 72 hour notice, warrant for eviction, or notice from
landlord), pay stubs or other income verification, and
documentation of assistance from other helping
agencies.
4. Please be sure that the
amount of rent owed includes the current month and has been
verified. Acceptable forms of verification include written
statement from landlord, copy of contract, and rent
receipt.
5. Please contact HOP if speed is of the essence. In certain instances we
may be able to expedite the processing of an
application.
6. Please call HOP if you have
any questions regarding filling out the application. Note,
however, that HOP cannot accept any call-ins or walk-in
clients
