According to Lucian Croitoru, the ex-temporary designated PM that took over from Boc, the Romanian economy will recover and start to increase only in 2011. 2010 is going to be a recovery year. He believes that the re-launch of the Romanian economy is setback by the economic crisis, Romanian news agency Mediafax reads.

Over 27 years ago, Mihai Codrescu was sent by the Autoexport plant in Brasov (Central Romania) in a business trip. From Hungary, he went to Austria and from there to Germany, declaring himself a refugee. A year after, he went to the US and got a waiting job. Today, Codrescu works as a physician with the Space Weather Prediction centre, where predictions on the space weather are made. Codrescu talked about the solar storms, about what the Sun tells us right now and he shared his opinions on global warming in an interview for HotNews.ro with Adrian Novac.

Millennium bcp recorded losses worth of 26.7 million euros during the first three quarters of 2009, up 22.4% against the same period of the last year. Back then, the losses amounted to 21.8 million euros, following the economic and financial crisis, according to the data published by the Portuguese bank and quoted by Romanian press agency NewsIn.

Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Mircea Geoana, who now runs in presidential elections due to take place later this month, has paid a private visit to Moscow on April 27, 2009, where he secretly met one of the aides of President Medvedev, political sources have told HotNews.ro. According to the sources, the meeting was allegedly mediated by Boris Golovin, a businessman with energy interests in Romania about whom the media has reported to be an ex-officer of GRU, the foreign military intelligence directorate of the Russian Federation army. Contacted by HotNews.ro, Golovin denied any links with the PSD. Initially, prominent Romanian politicians VIorel Hrebenciuc and Cozmin Gusa said they new nothing about the secret visit. After several hours, former Foreign minister Cristian Diaconescu confirmed that Geoana paid the visit but said he did not know whom the PSD leader met with, what the talks focused on or how long the visit was.

Romania's incumbent president Traian Basescu declared on Monday that "after Ceausescu's fleeing in 1989, those who took over the power got the army out in streets and killed 1,600 Romanians". Ex-president Ion Iliescu (PSD) tagged the statement as "irresponsible" and "false". "I heard many rude words and even insults from Mr. Traian Basescu. Citroen will launch C-Zero, the 100% electric car, on the Romanian market

Citroen will launch mini class model C-Zero in Europe at the end of next year. The car has autonomy for 130 kilometres and an engine that develops 64 horses power. The car is 3.5 metres long and it is being developed by Mitsubishi, which has already launched the i-MIEV model, while Peugeot presented an electrical model of similar dimensions, called iOn. The company's representatives said the car will reach Romania as well, but the date is not yet certain.

Subaru launched in Romania the new generation of the Legacy model, both in the sedan and break variants, plus the new generation of Outback crossover, the company announced. Prices start with 28,310 for Legacy Sedan and 33,189 for Outback, VAT included. Subaru sold 600 cars last year in Romania. Half of them were Forester.

Curentul, a Romanian newspaper, has got an audio recording claiming to belong to the Interior Ministry General Authority for Information and Internal Protection (DGIPI), which would prove that there are leaks and cop-outs from the Romanian Interior Ministry's secret archive. According to Curentul, the recording features the voice of the National Integrity Authority (ANI) chief Catalin Macovei, being subjected to blackmail by two Romanian journalists: ex-Gandul editor-in-chief Bogdan Chirieac and ex-Ziua general manager Sorin Rosca Stanescu.
