The Annual Harvard Review of Philosophy Lecture
Since 2005, The Review
has sponsored an annual lecture, held at Harvard University. Below is a list of these lectures.
2005: Daniel Dennett (Tufts University) gave a lecture entitled "Philosophers, Zombies, and Feelings: The Illusions of 'First-Person' Approaches to Consciousness" on April 8, 2005.
2006: Derek Parfit (All Souls College, Oxford University and Harvard University) gave a lecture entitled "Reasons and Rationality" on March 17, 2006.
2007: Martha Nussbaum (Chicago University) gave a lecture entitled "Equal Respect for Conscience: Roger Williams on the Moral Basis of Civil Peace" on April 12, 2007.
Facing Animals
The Review co-sponsored a panel on animals in ethics, entitled Facing Animals, on April 24, 2007 at Harvard University. The speakers were Patricia Herzog, Christine Korsgaard, Martha Nussbaum, and Cass Sunstein.

Patricia Herzog is the author of Conscious and Unconscious: Freud's
Dynamic Distinction Reconsidered (1991) and co-editor of the
award-winning Defending Diversity: Contemporary Philosophical
Perspectives on Pluralism and Multiculturalism (1994). Her talk, entitled "Facing Animals at Harvard," is available here.
Christine Korsgaard is the Arthur Kingsley Porter Professor of Philosophy
at Harvard University. Her talk, entitled "Facing the Animal You See in the Mirror," is available here.
Martha Nussbaum is the Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of
Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago Philosophy Department, Law
School and Divinity School. Her talk, entitled "Facing Animal Complexity," is available here.
Cass R. Sunstein is the Karl N. Llewellyn Distinguished Service Professor
of Jurisprudence at the University of Chicago Law School, Department
