A Workshop of Original Plays

The workshop features two student-written pieces, Alex Breaux's Still Fighting It and Jack Cutmore-Scott's Breaking Up. Still Fighting It involves three different story threads that explore what it means to grow up, dealing with the consequences of one’s actions, and the ambivalence that can ruin relationships. It balances humor with drama, in addition to a hella sick soundtrack. In Breaking Up, one young man, ‘A’, is sitting in his apartment waiting for his flat-mate, 'B' to return from a date, on which he had intended to break up with his girlfriend. The story that B tells is quite clearly a fictional account of what took place, and A confronts B about the ridiculousness of the story. B retells the story. This structure of retelling the story with significant changes is repeated a few times – with each rendition of the story, a heightened level of physical energy and absurdity is achieved. Each Workshop performance will be followed with a talk-back with the director, playwrights, and actors.
