Andrew claims that his
intense table tennis training has greatly
enhanced his tennis skills ...
|
| |
|
About:
Sophomore living in Currier house. He is studying international relations
and economics. He is the director of the New England Division of the National
Collegiate Table Tennis Association.
Experience:
Andrew, born and raised on the mean streets of Manhattan, is a true city-dweller,
and would not be caught living outside of a major metropolitan area. Nevertheless,
when vacation rolls around, he loves nothing more than taking off for
some warm tropical beaches, where he plays lots of tennis, and spends
most of the day reading by the pool and/or beach. Favorite spots include
Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Hawaii.
On HTTC...
This is Andrew's second year on the HTTC. Andrew has been playing on the
B team for both of his years with the squad.

About:
Student in the Law School's LL.M. program

I did my master's (Law) and Ph.D. (Law; concentration: Disability Law)
at the University of Zurich, and took the Bar Exam in the State of Aargau,
Switzerland.
Experience:
I have always stayed true to my first club, the TTC Wettingen (check it
out: www.ttc-wettingen.ch). Furthermore, I have been playing for years
for the University of Zurich and - in the labor association - for a club
called "Smily Futures".
As a foreigner, my exotic experience is playing for the HTTC
Titles:
Participant in the Eurofestival in Italy (1999) and Latvia (2001)
Swiss Champion in the Labor Association Mixed Doubles 1995, 1996, 1998
Swiss Champion in the Labor Association Team Competitions 1999, 2000
Winner of the Swiss Team Cup in the Labor Association 1999
Swiss University Champion with the University of Zurich 1996, 1997, 1998,
2000
Several titles in different categories (singles, doubles, mixed, under
20, cup) in the Northwest Division of Switzerland & in the State Division
of Aargau, Switzerland (1991-2000).
Interests:
I like sports in general (skiing, snowboarding, in line skating, tennis,
squash, badminton, soccer, etc.), playing the piano, traveling, attending
cultural events, and - very important - eating (combined with a good glass
of wine, of course).
On HTTC...
This is the place to ultimately thank the guys from HTTC who keep the
whole thing going.
Thank you so much, dear Andrew, Kyna, Marc, Mike & Silas (in alphabetical
order
),
you are doing a great job. I know how much work it is and really appreciate
your efforts.

Over the years, I've played every
offensive style there is-alternately
using long, medium, short pips
instead of smooth rubber on my
backhand and killing the ball with my forehand loop whenever the
opportunity arose. Now, I don't really do anything well enough to have
a
particular style but rather will do
whatever I think will get me a few
cheap points. To save me that disgraceful characterization, perhaps
you can characterize me as "offensive allround," or something
along those lines. Can we say "doubles specialist?"

Charles proves that there is more than one
way to hit a small orange ball over
the table ... Our dedicated alum is
always there when it counts!!
|

| |
|
About:
Lawyer and our most dedicated team member!!
Experience:
Pearl Street Table Tennis Center (Waterbury, CT) and the Fox Lane Table
Tennis Club (Bedford Hills, NY), which I founded at my high school in
'91 (That's probably my best contribution to the table tennis community-it
was bigger than the HTTC when I left and I'm told it's grown significantly
since)
Titles:
Yes... a very long, long time ago when I used to play tournaments. Most
significant recent one: 5th place team finish at the Nationals in '96,
where I went undefeated in doubles with Ming Lai. President of the HTTC
'94-'96.
Other than HTTC:
Charles calls upon his Harvard training (AB'97 in chemistry and physics;
JD'00) in his work as an intellectual property lawyer, and he enjoys playing
racquet sports in his spare time.
On HTTC...
Having spent a decade at the HTTC, I have enjoyed the constantly evolving
camaraderie at the Club and continue to enjoy coaching and playing at
the HTTC year after year.
