Q:
What is ISHN?
A: ISHN is a resource for people of levels of
expertise
interested in science and health issues related to developing countries. We
have set up this site to share existing links/resources and capture
experiences from people who have experienced science and health care in
developing countries.
Q: If I choose to share my email will
anyone on the web have access to it?
A: No, we will only pass on your email to people that are affiliated with
Harvard or MIT. When the database application is working only those at
Harvard and MIT will be able to register.
Q: Who can join and
search the ISHN database?
A: Currently the list is open to all to browse though that is temporary
until we finish our database. When it is complete, we will limit access
to all current and past affiliates of Harvard and MIT.
Q: Can I register on ISHN if I am not affiliated with Harvard University
or MIT?
A: Sorry, when complete we'd like to keep it closed to Harvard and MIT to
encourage those people to share their experiences. We are happy to pass
on the structure of the database or anything else that we've put together.
Just email us.
Q: I'm not at Harvard or MIT but would like
to replicate this at my university?
A: Great! Give us an email
ishn@hcs.harvard.edu and we'll get back to you. We're happy to
pass on anything we've put together.
Not relevant until the database application
is working
Q: How do I search
the database?
A: Simply resister (you must register to verify you are affiliated with Harvard)
then go to the search page (see left side menu).
Q: Can I search the
database without registering?
A: No, but you can take a tour of the database. Go to the login page (see
left side menu) and there will be a link to take a tour. Registering to use
the database is easy and only takes a minute.
Q: Do I have to log
an experience to search the database?
A: No, but we encourage everyone who has traveled or worked abroad to share
their experiences. The quality of the database depends upon the experiences
it contains.
