I
worked in an Ecuadorian non-profit that focuses on public health work
and studies in highland Ecuador near Quito.
We studied the effect of pesticide use on the health of flower
plantation workers and their families.
This project consisted of a diagnostic component (qualitative
survey and test of erythrocyte cholinesterase level) as well as an
educational intervention. I
also spent time shadowing an Ecuadorian rural physician in the local
health clinic. |
