Sharing your contact info

You can decide if you wish to be contacted by other users of the database. Only Harvard and MIT affiliates will be given your email if you choose.
We do encourage users to share their email allowing other people to contact you.  It's an excellent way to interact with and meet people with similar interests and it encourages others who want to work or visit abroad.

Creating an Experience

Location of Experience: Select the region and country where the experience took place by clicking on the drop down menu.

Categories that Describe Your Interest: Select one or more fields that best describe your experience by clicking in the appropriate box.

Organizations and Institutions: List the names of any universities, hospitals, NGOs, or any other organizations where you worked.

Title of Experience: This title will be displayed with the search results. It is important that the title be concise. For example, if you studied HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia simply put "HIV/AIDS Ethiopia" as the title of your experience.

Describe Your Experience: This gives you the opportunity to tell others about your experience. Details are critical so be as thorough as possible. If you want to submit more than one experience, please submit a new for

Searching the Database

The ISHN database can be searched in the following ways (these options may be used in any combination):

By Location: Select either a region or country or both to carry out your search.
By Type of Experience: It is not necessary to search by type of experience but if you decide to limit your search using this criteria, simply click on the appropriate choice in the scroll down menu. Multiple selections can be made by holding down the Control (Ctrl) key while clicking on choice.
By Keyword: Use a single word or phrase to carry out a search.

For verification purposes you must enter a Harvard or MIT email address.

If you are registering, the email address will be used to send you your activation key. You will need this key to activate your account.

Current students and faculty: Please use your Harvard email address! This will help us to verify your Harvard affiliation and will accelerate your account activation.

Harvard alumni: Please use your post.harvard.edu email address! If you do not have a Harvard email address, please get your free post.harvard email address by clicking here. You can forward the post.harvard address to any email address you like and continue to use your current email address!
