About us

The Mental Health Awareness and Advocacy Group (MHAAG) has been a vocal body for mental health and illness outreach and education on campus. At its founding in 1997, it was the first student organization of its kind. MHAAG has brought speakers such as Kay Redfield Jamison to the Harvard campus; held educational panels and discussion groups on topics ranging from post-traumatic stress disorder to the effects of sleep on mental health; provided support for those struggling with mental illness; spoken on behalf of the student body to key figures in the University Health System. Recent innovations include a Mental Health Liaison and Mental Health Mentor program, safe space discussion group, a series of mental health First Aid trainings, and coordination of an Undergraduate Council co-sponsored Mental Health Awareness Month.
