A Resident Team is a group of 4-5 musicians who go on approximately biweekly trips throughout the semester to assigned nursing homes. Being a member of a resident team allows you to forge relationships with your team members, to perform in ensembles during trips, and to connect more deeply with the residents you perform for. Expectations include attending trips throughout the semester, preparing for the trips beforehand (practicing pieces, helping create program, etc), and attending a mid-semester check-in meeting. No auditions necessary!
Crooners is a singing subset of MIHNUET whose goal is to engage residents in the music making process--rather than singing at the residents, we will sing with them instead. Instead of singing ability or prior experience, we are looking for students who are dedicated to service and want to connect with the residents through shared musical experiences. Expectations include attending biweekly trips throughout the semester, participating in a mandatory music therapy workshop, attending a mid-semester check-in meeting, and having biweekly rehearsals. No auditions necessary!
If you cannot commit to either of the two groups above, you could still be involved by joining our mailing list! We will be pubbing the trips weekly that we will be organizing for the semester, so if you want to see what a trip is like, you're more than welcome to sign up and perform at one of our trips! NOTE: signups are first come, first serve and based on availability, so make sure you sign up early to secure a spot on a trip.
To be a member of a Resident Team or Crooners, you must go through a brief application and interview process. The application is LIVE NOW and the deadline is MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11th AT 11:59 PM. To access the application, click HERE
