Leader Paperwork

Official Trip Paperwork and Planning:
This page is devoted to making each trip run as smoothly as possible and making it easy to gain trip approval. To organize an official trip, complete the necessary forms below. These forms go to Dean McLoughlin's office for approval, and he likes to get them at least 2-3 full days before departure (and no later than Thursday morning for any weekend trip). Remember, you will have to pick up the forms from him before you go on your trip so that you will have all the participants' med forms as well as your route plans and driving directions. (Or these can be photocopied before being turned in to the dean.) Have a great time outside!

Other Forms and Tips:

  • Consider creating your own questionaire for your participants. This should be to gauge their interests before trip plans are finalized. See an example here.
  • Permits! Groups of 6 or more are often asked to notify the appropriate officials about one week prior to departure. For specific information, click on the following links: New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts. Note that this information does not cover all wilderness areas in these states, but should provide information on the most likely areas you may be traveling to.
  • UC Grants: Apply for grants to reduce the cost of a trip for your participants.
  • Curriculum form: What do you need to teach participants in order for them to safely complete your trip?
