Leader Qualifications:
Lay-member Leader Qualifications

  • Any current HOC member may propose a trip and act as a leader, with or without training, provided that s/he is matched with an official leader who will have the ultimate decision-making authority. If you would like to lead an official HOC trip, just contact one of the officers or email the Outing Club list to find an official coleader! If you would like to lead an unofficial "common-adventure" trip, you do no need an official coleader.

Official Leader Qualifications:

  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Wilderness First Aid training or more advanced training for any trip entering a wilderness environment
  • Successful completion of the HOC leader training program, FOP leader training, AMC leader trainging, or another outdoors leadership program training at the discretion of the HOC officers
  • Other Additional qualifications may be required for winter camping, trips involving skiing, and watersports.
  • All leaders must be aware of and comply with all HOC policies on any trip they lead. HOC policies can be found here.
