Do you want to learn to lead outdoors trips? Do you want to get more involved in the HOC? Do you like sporks, campfire singalongs, or fiddling on top of mountains? If you anwered yes to any of the above, consider applying for the fall 2008 HOC Leader Training Program!
We are getting into the swing of things for this semester--organized the office, had a great square dance last week, and have about half a dozen trips planned for the next month: canoeing, biking, hikes in NH (Franconia!) and Maine (Katahdin!!!), shelter building, etc. Watch the email list for the details.
If you are interested in planning a trip with us, we'd love to have you. Stop by an office hour or the officer meetings on Monday nights.
Sadly, no one from the HOC would come, but me. But I went anyway. It's mainly a blur. 105 relatively hilly miles by bike, 15 miles of trail running on the Wapack Trail. Severe dehydration during the run as I ran out of water within the first few miles. Felt like I was in one of those desert stories - found myself lying in a spring and slurping water straight from the muddy stream. Aside from my poor planning, the Wapack Trail was full of pleasant surprises - beautiful lakes and nice views from the rocky mountaintops (err... hilltops, who are we kidding...)
For any aspiring adventure cyclists in the HOC, I thought I'd offer a classification of the towns I've recently passed through:
Very Friendly

Summer Session is in full swing and our Gear Collective is in high demand. If you're not on our summer email list, email HOCsummer@gmail.com to be added. Office Hours are more fluid during the summer, so watch the list for weekly times and feel free to suggest times for OH that would work best for you. Any and all are welcome to come by the HOC Office at 15 Linden Street and borrow gear, find out about the club, plan trips, or just chat with other outdoorsy folk. Let's get outside!
