The Harvard Piano
Society is an over 300-member student organization dedicated to
fostering a vigorous musical culture both within and beyond the
Harvard community. Geared towards creating opportunities for piano
performance and learning, HPS coordinates master classes with
world-renowned pianists and conductors, arranges student recitals
throughout campus, connects piano students with piano teachers,
and organizes seminars and workshops with professionals from the
music industry.
But HPS is not
only about learning from others and taking what they have to offer;
on the contrary, HPS is additionally devoted to community service-conducting
the Youth Orchestra Mentoring Project, performing benefit concerts,
and creating student-made CDs to sell for charity.
The Piano Society
is not only united by a passion for music and love of community,
but also by a predilection for fun. Working with the Office for
the Arts and contacts throughout Boston, HPS obtains discount
Boston Symphony Orchestra tickets, goes late-night disco bowling
and broom-balling, and screens movies at the Hilles Library Cinema
with free popcorn.
