About the Pitches: Auditions
Group of Pitches

The Pitches would like to thank everyone who came out for our spring auditions! We had a great time singing with and getting to know all of you. While you are all fabulous singers, we unfortunately can't take all of you at this time, and we hope to see you again in the fall! Thanks again, and if you have any questions please email pitches@pitches.org!

Read more about auditions below, and check out our auditions FAQs.

Preliminary Auditions
Preliminary auditions are held over the space of several days; you only need to come once and audition for about twenty minutes during the times specified. When you come to an audition, we'll lead you through some exercises to give us an idea of your vocal range and music learning style. This consists of warm-ups, a pitch-matching exercise, and optional sight-reading. The second part of the audition is a short solo, verse and chorus-- sing anything that you feel good singing. We've had everything from the Snoopy song to Snoop Dogg. Then you're done! We'll post a list for callbacks on our website after the last day of preliminary auditions.

Callback Rounds
Callbacks are an opportunity for you to show how your voice can fit into a group sound. You'll learn short pieces of Pitches arrangements and sing them with the Pitches and other auditionees. A current member of the group will guide you through the entire process.

This process is not just for us to learn about you, but for you to learn more about the Pitches. Ask us any questions you may have, and enjoy yourself! We want you to have fun with the other auditionees and current group members.

We also encourage anyone who doesn't make it into the group to return for auditions the following semester. The needs of the group change every year, and several of our group members have auditioned more than once.

If you have any more questions about the Pitches and/or the auditions process, please don't hesitate to email us: pitches@pitches.org
