About Pops
The Harvard Pops Orchestra is a student-run ensemble at Harvard College that seeks to perform all kinds of orchestral music in a fashion enjoyable to both the audience and the performers. Every concert has a theme and a story, which makes Pops much less like traditional student orchestras or even traditional pops orchestras. We actually have a fair amount in common with Harvard theatrical groups.
See the letter on our news page for the juicy details — you don't have to be a freshman to read it — or read a little bit about the history of how Pops came to be. There are around 50 members of the orchestra, plus the actors and other such folks who bring it all to life. Most of us are also involved with other musical opportunities at Harvard, but agree that Pops is awesome.
